Albania architectural heritage conservation volunteer vacation

SAVING A WORLD HERITAGE SITE - ONE TOWER HOUSE AT A TIME
Gjirokastra, Albania - May 13-26, 2012; September 2-15, 2012
The Skenduli House is one of Gjirokasta’s tower house treasures, and a vital piece of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. While this splendidly detailed house once stood as strong as the Ottoman Empire, it has fallen into disrepair. Local youth have been chosen to receive job skills training as they work with AiP volunteers to save this house, supporting heritage tourism and sustainable economic development.
