Fun, Food, and Historic Preservation

masonry detail Armenian architectureThrough the centuries, many civilizations and cultures have passed through Armenia such as the Arabs, Turks and Russians. These cultures have influenced not only the architecture, but also the food.

As a result, you’ll find babaghanoush, soojoukh, and other exotic-sounding dishes among your choices to taste. You may even want to take home many delicious recipes if you have the opportunity to travel and explore this area of the world.

So check your schedule for the summer of 2010, and consider adding a volunteer vacation with Adventures in Preservation. Participants will travel to Gyumri, Armenia for a hands-on experience in preserving the city’s historic buildings. “City Center Recovery & Conservation Efforts” is scheduled for June 19 - July 1, 2010.
