FAQ’s 2025

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What is Adventures in Preservation and what do we do?

At Adventures in Preservation, we connect people and preservation through hands-on volunteer projects around the world. When you join us, you help conserve historic buildings, learn traditional building techniques, and support communities that rely on their cultural heritage. We call our volunteers “Jammers,” because together we bring new life and energy to places that matter.

2. How can I participate in one of our projects?

Getting involved is easy. You can browse our “Projects” on our website and sign up for the project that inspires you. We organize volunteer trips that blend hands-on preservation work with expert guidance, local culture, and real impact. Once you register, we provide all the details you need to prepare for your journey.

3. Do you need prior preservation experience to volunteer with us?

Not at all. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, and no special skills are required. Our teams include professional preservation experts who teach you everything you need to know—from basic techniques to traditional building skills. Whether you’re a seasoned preservationist or a first-time volunteer, there’s a place for you on our projects.

4. How do your donations make an impact?

Your support directly fuels our mission. Donations help us purchase conservation materials, support local project teams, and bring preservation expertise to communities that may not have access otherwise. You also help us fund scholarships so that financial limitations don’t prevent someone from joining a project. Every gift, large or small, strengthens our work and the communities we serve.

5. Is Adventures in Preservation a tax-deductible nonprofit?

Yes, we are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States, which means your donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Depending on your situation, part of your program fee for a volunteer trip may also be tax-deductible. We always recommend checking with your tax advisor for specifics.
