Judith Broeker

Program Director

Judith is the founder of Adventures in Preservation, which was preceded by her own company, Preservation UnLtd. She is a materials conservation specialist with both research and hands-on experience gained at historic structures in the United States and abroad. Judith holds a BA in Asian Studies, and MPH in Public Health Epidemiology, and a Master's degree in History with an emphasis in historic preservation.

Judith responds to all AiP requests for assistance and works with community members to develop each project. For her, nothing is better than exploring a historic site with camera in hand.

Lorie Komlyn

Director of Community Engagement

Boston, Massachusetts

Lorie Komlyn is an architectural historian who strongly believes in the power of place. Lorie holds a Masters of Studies in Architectural History from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, a Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University, and an A.B. from Washington University in St. Louis. She has completed the certificate in Cultural Heritage: Crime and Security, jointly hosted by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute and American University in Rome, as well as a number of courses with Historic New England. She serves on the Board of Trustees for three historic houses in Boston, MA.

A trained ballet dancer and skater, Lorie enjoys traveling the world, picking up new books, antiquing, and visiting historic houses. A member of the California and Connecticut bar associations, she currently is the Assistant Director of the Forbes House Museum in Milton, MA. She has served as the Architectural Historian for the city of Boston, and also has decades of experience as an educational administrator and college counselor for gifted high school students.

Sharon Kong-Perring

Director of Global Outreach

Seattle, Washington

Sharon Kong-Perring is a curator at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, Washington, where she specializes in popular culture artifacts that span music, television, film, literature, and fashion. As a historian, she also has a background in 17th-19th century American and British history, and she has a special affinity for Asian and Oceanic objects.

Sharon is currently pursuing a PhD in media and cultural studies, where she researches audiences, fandoms, and the intersection of popular culture and history. Her research will be available in several pending publications with Bloomsbury and Equinox among other scholastic publishers.

When not working at the museum or on her research, Sharon is a globetrotting travel journalist who highlights unique cultural experiences. Her previous work can be read on Yahoo!, MSN, Magazine Antiques, The Travel.com, Islands.com, and Explore.com.
